XMPP on the website

I have installed XMPPFramework on the website. It seems to be partially working.

As you can see on the right hand side of the page, there is a button to Launch Chat. It opens pop-up window with very simple and minimalistic Webchat window. But... you have to be logged into the website first.

Another functionality coming with this is the roster retrieving from the XMPP server. It is supposed to synchronise VCard as well but this part seems to be not working correctly yet. I am working on the details yet, trying to resolve existing problems. After everything is working, the next step would be XMPP domains registration via form on the website and uploading own SSL certificates.

If you happen to happen to know XMPPFramework module for Drupal and you are keen on helping me with issues and setting things up, please contact me. If you have any suggestions or comments please do not hesitate to leave them here.

Also there is a Bosh connection manager active on the installation. You have to set your connection parameters to url: http://www.tigase.im/http-bind/.

XMPP Service restart today

XMPP service restart is expected in a few minutes.

We are upgrading software to the most recent version.

Full AMP support added with offline messages storage and section 9 - security considerations.

Please feel free to test it out.

Roster size

We are starting here so I guess most of active accounts hold rather small rosters yet. I am however curious what is your biggest roster size on any of your XMPP accounts.

Most of us heard stories about his roster with over 3,200 contacts which has been shrunk down to something above 1,400. I used to work on a project where a typical roster size was approximately 10,000 which was huge, especially that it all worked through web clients only.

If you are keen on sharing your roster size please comment on this blog entry and/or vote on this poll.
